A once cash-strapped star of Channel 5’s Great British Benefit Handout has bought himself a Range Rover in cash after transforming his earning power thanks to the show.
As part of the social experiment, Scott Gavin was given £26,000 – his entire years’ worth of benefits upfront – in return for signing off the dole.
He then used the cash to turn his home into a mini-zoo and to launch a business called Party Central Entertainments.
“Today, I decided to buy myself a nice new car,” the exotic animal owner told the Liverpool Echo, revealing he pair £8,000 for his posh new vehicle.
“It shows hard work pays off,” he continued.
“I smile every time I look at it and it is proof of the success.
“I worked hard for it and I’m going to enjoy every minute of it.
“If you get the chance, go for it and it pays off in the end.”
Scott and his wife Leanne visit mainstream and disabled schools with a selection of their 120 exotic animals, which include lizards, bearded dragons, iguanas, snakes, giant snails, monkeys, owls and a racoon.
And he has ambitious plans for the future.
Scott added: “In January next year my Jungle Room is going to open and that will be a place where parties can be booked out.
“Around March im looking for around eight to 10 acres to start setting up a zoo – hopefully in the Liverpool area.
“Watch this space!”
